I'm leaving on a jet plane...
*hums to self* I still need to pack, and wake up at six tomorrow. I'm so excited I probably just won't sleep. I called Borders when I woke up today (2PM). The lady was like, "yes, your book is here, but I'm not authorized to open the shipping pallet until tomorrow." When I explained that I was leaving tomorrow she just shrugged over the phone. I'm not sure how that works, but as she was talking I got the distinct impression that she was shrugging. Later today the cool guy from the information desk (who put the rush order on the book for me in the first place) called and said it was in and ready for me. So we went down to Borders and I picked up Talion plus East of Eden (for school) and Ender's Game. I've got a lot of reading ahead of me tomorrow. I went to karate again tonight. That's three times this week, makes me feel less lazy. I worked a lot on Bassai Dai again and asked my dad about tekui katas. See, once you reach a certain level in shotokan your sensei assigns a tekui kata and you have to do that kata for all your exams from then on. Most people are assigned Bassai Dai, but some get Enpi, Jion, or Kanku Dai. Turns out that Enpi is for people small in stature, and Kanku Dai is more if you are tall and lanky. I found out that I'll probably get Bassai Dai, but I'm hoping for Jion, just to be different from my dad, who has Bassai Dai. After training we went with everyone from the dojo to Cherry Blossom. It's become the new Friday night hangout for everyone (used to be Streets of New York). Highly recommend it, very good Japanese and Italian food (yes, I know it's an odd combination). My mom dropped the dog off at the kennel today, and the house feels empty. I'll try to post from Hawaii if I can, but I might not post again until next Sunday.I almost forgot link of the day! Okay here's a little something different. If you like to stay up to date on the news (or just waste time) then you might enjoy the Newsmap. It is a graphical representation of current news stories. Enjoy!
