More movie reviews.
I went to see Shrek 2 with the family tonight. It was ok. Not as many one-liners as I expected, most of the laughs came from the movie parodying other movies (Mission Impossible and Lord of the Rings come to mind). The beginning of the movie had me worried because Shrek didn't do anything but whine ("I don't want to go to Far, Far Away", "Are we there yet?", "Can we go home?") It did get better, although there were WAY too many gender-confused fairy tale characters. There are a lot of summer movies that I actually WANT to see, Chronicles of Riddick comes to mind. Another that doesn't seem to have much advertising is Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, but I think I'll only like it if it's as cheesy as the previews make it look. It's kind of ironic that a movie who's visual style is basically a throwback to the thirties was made with every scene rendered on computers. After the movie we went to eat. The place we were at had ESPN on the TV. Now, I don't usually watch ESPN, and by the time we got there it was like 10:30, but it seemed like all the commercials were of the sort that sold useless junk that no one in their right mind would by. It must be meant to appeal to late-night bar patrons who are so drunk they don't know what they are buying.[adult swim] put Witch Hunter Robin back on, along with Big O. That makes me happy. Mission Hill is also back. That makes me less so. I played a lot of guitar today, getting better at it is one of my goals for this summer. Tomorrow we get to kidnap all the incoming seventh graders at church. It's a cool initiation thing. Wow, I'm a Junior, I still need to get used to that. Time to watch WHR.
