More debate camp!
But first, This day in History:
- Jane Barbe, voice of the telephone operator recording was born in 1928
- William Wilberforce, campaigner against slavery died this day in 1833 (I just put this in because he has a cool name)
- James VI is crowned King of Scotland at Stirling in 1567.
Last night instead of going straight back to the hotel we got to hang around the Plymouth mall. They had two Electronics Boutique stores there. One was under the name EB games and the other was EBX. The stupid things large companies will do. Lander and I were browsing for games and I saw Tales of Symphonia! I want that game so bad, I was about to piss myself. But the I realized that even if I did buy it, I would have to wait a week and a half to play it, and I would probably go insane with suspense. So I ended up getting MegaMan Battle Network 4 blue moon at EB games and Lander bought Megaman Battle Network 4 red sun at EBX. Odd that the two stores don't stock the same games. The we headed to borders to take a gander at their books. They didn't have any original Scifi/Fantasy stories by any authors that I like, so I bought the Crest of Stars manga instead. I'm reading a lot of heavy stuff (East of Eden, Rubicon), so I wanted something light and fun. I still have to read A Thief of Time, but then after that my summer reading is done! (I finished Andromeda Strain yesterday.) I hope we actually do something with our summer reading in English this year, because I have really enjoyed it a lot more that in previous years, and think that therefore, I would be better motivated to do a project or something.
Today I did my first debate. I thought it went well, but I didn't attack my opponent's Value or Criterion as much as I should. I also finished my second rebuttal way before I ran out of time, which was really embarrassing for me. I don't know who would have won, it was just practice, but I think that we both did equally well. If anyone wants to talk to me on AIM I'm going to be on between 9AM and 10AM (Arizona time) for sure, and probably at other random times (whenever I'm doing "research"). OK, it's time for my next class, g2g.
