I had a great post title, but then I forgot it.
 No, I really did; I was even chuckling to myself this afternoon as I thought of it. Damn, my memory is crap. I just got back from the 40th annual Western States Karate clinic, oh man it was so awesome. All of the major senseis in America in one room. Okazaki sensei is seventy-freaking-five and can still move amazingly quickly, and with perfect form. For most of the clinic they divided the class into advanced and um, not advanced groups. Senseis Yaguchi and Takashina taught the group I was in (that would be non-advanced). I happened to look over across the gym a couple of times, Okazaki and Mikami were absolutely killing the advanced belts. After the clinic was the dan exam, a lot of people from our dojo tested, especially for shodan. Dad tested for sandan (third degree) he did really well, considering that the sensei in charge of kata (I think it was Sensei Mikami) gave Gankaku (a fairly esoteric kata for a sandan test) to the advanced belts as the kata for the test. Afterwards we went across the street (the event was held at the Hilton Garden Inn downtown, they have a nice indoor gym) to Macayo's (a Mexican restaurant). Most Macayo's restaurants are fairly quiet establishments, you might even go so far as to say family oriented. This one however, had a bar/nightclub with really freaking loud music, we could hear it in the other part of the restaurant through several walls. Anyways, lots of people showed up for dinner, it was a good time. I've decided to compete tomorrow in the tournament. I'm going to enter the kata competition probably with heian godan, wish me luck!
