  I'm going to Japan!
I turned in my student recommendation forms today, now I just need to get them back and give them to the Student Ambassador people, and I'm on the Japan trip! I've already found a Japanese language class to take next semester, we're going to be doing something called home stays, where you spend a few nights in the home of a family. I want to be able to communicate at least a little bit. Kelsey also registered for the trip, so she might be going to (I'm an alumni, so I'm guaranteed a spot, she has to interview for it).

Today we played an arrangement of the score to West Side Story in band. It's a really hard score, but fun to play (if you can hit those high Eb's). In American History Ms. Pecanic was totally wasted indisposed for the second day in a row. So we had this crazy sub again:

He acts like he's ex-military, though I'm not sure that he really was ever in the army. But he is very serious and archaic. However, he got the kids to shut the fuck up and study, so I'm not complaining.

After second hour we had an assembly. Here's how it went:

Band played. They were very loud indoors, but sounded good.

Voices (choir) sang the national anthem. As usual they kicked ass.

Then some other stuff happened. I was reading a book, and apparently missed the tops of several dancers slipping partially off. Damn!

Rest of school was ok. Nothing spectacular. After school Mike, Lauren, and I went to Fiddlesticks to play some DDR. That was awesome. I did the best I've ever done in Cartoon Heroes (speedy mix). Afterwards got a ride with Lauren to Subway and school (thanks!). At school I saw Eric in his very big hat.

My, what a big hat you have.

Then I went with some people from church to the Steven Curtis Chapman concert, it rocked (sorry I missed homecoming game though).

The concert was held inside Glendale Arena (hockey arena). Directions for getting there. Take Lincoln until it turns into Glendale. Drive for 90 miles. Ok, you're there. Well, maybe it wasn't ninety miles, but it was really far, I live at about 66th street, the arena is on 90-something avenue. Yes, far.

The tickets we bought were about that far back, but mom was stuck in traffic on Wednesday, so she called in on one of those radio contests because she was bored. She won second row seats. We all took turns sitting in them. The view looked a little like this:

After the concert was over (at about 11) John was very tired. We tried to go out to eat at Denny's but it was closed because they are tearing it down to build an In-n-Out burger at Cactus and Tatum. Sw337!
