Warning: Angst Ahead!
Screw this day in history, instead let's have a little chat about
The Social Contract: As told by Brent In case you aren't familiar with the social contract (or philosophy just isn't you cup o' tea), the social contract is basically the idea of how a government works and interacts with it's citizens. In every take on the social contract there is what is sometimes called, "The State of Nature". Now, this state of nature (according to my take on it) we have two types of people. There are those that say, "I need to eat, I'd better farm, or hunt." You know the people a society is built off of because they get things done. The second type is the kind that observes and tries to make a better way of getting things done. These are the once who advance society. Now, this would be all fine and good if there weren't a third type of person. Someone not creative enough to be much of a thinker and too lazy to work. The charismatic ones arise to a position of leadership and the uncharismatic ones become those who regulate everything else. Their existence contributes nothing to the society in any way, but their continued employment as brickyard is justified because of a sort of circular logic of "well, it's always been this way and it can't change because it's always been this way". What am I getting at? Did I just fuck up the entire idea of a social contract and not even have a point? Here's my point:
The following is addressed to the teachers and administrators of the Scottsdale Unified School District, and also all adults in general.
FUCK YOU ALL YOU STUPID BASTARDS! Why the fuck do you idiots feel the need to regulate the hell out of everything and restrict kids from fucking getting a fucking education? Why should I have to fill out your retarded forms in fucking triplicate, just because I want to fucking advance my education beyond your measly standards? Isn't it enough that I just want to learn? Shouldn't you inspire a desire for knowledge in a child, instead of smothering it? Why do all adults feel this need to have so much bureaucracy? Do you sons of bitches just feel the need to make up dumbass policies to justify your ongoing employment? Adults suck, namely bureaucrats suck. If you're reading this then you know who you are, you pencil pushing bastard. I've provided a three step list to determine whether or not you're a bureaucrat and suck major dong.
- You spend most of your time behind a desk, following policy.
- You have people working under you, and people working below you (i.e. You are a worthless middleman)
- You've majored in humanities and now work in an office (My school's English department proves that humanities majors suck)
Now, here are some ways to stop being a dumbass and contribute to society:
- Do something creative - start a trend, a fad, patent a new way of doing things, something to prove that you think for yourself
- Quit your job and find a new one that doesn't suck (odds are that youngster in the cubicle/office next to you was going to take it anyways)
- Have you considered suicide? (no really, don't kill yourself on my account, though I guess it is the thought that counts)
I'm sorry if this rant has offended anyone, this was just my attempt at blowing off steam. The bureaucracy at my school is preventing me from being in honors English, and it's not that their saying I can't be in it, but they're going so far as to kick me out. I'm just trying to release some anger and tension that I'm feeling right now. I've seen Columbine in the news lately, and I wonder if anyone has ever considered what role the bureaucracy of the school played in that. I mean, for example, if you were clinically depressed and wanted to kill yourself and decided to talk to your school counselor about it, but were told to take a number and no, we'll call you. How do you think you would feel? The bureaucracy seriously cuts off students from both expressing themselves to the administration (in order to have a school more in line with the needs of the students) and hinders the school in teaching (I am convinced that teachers spend more time formulating policy than lesson plans)
It's late, and I should be doing physics homework, but if you've made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read my distorted (and probably incorrect) ramblings of what I think as a child growing up both in and out of the system.
